Single-Zone Wine Refrigeration

Studio 1200 Wine Cooler, 166 Bottle

When a collection has grown past what a kitchen cooler can reasonably handle, the Studio 1200 is the kind of unit worth planning a room around. Standing just under 24 inches wide and nearly 70 inches tall, it holds up to 166 Bordeaux format bottles in a single temperature zone. That is enough room for a serious red cellar, a deep vertical of a single producer or a well stocked mix ready for the table.

The front vented design means it installs flush into a cabinet cutout or stands alone without clearance modifications. Inside, 15 pull out shelves, 13 of which roll out fully, keep bottles accessible without moving others to reach the back row. A keyed security lock, replaceable charcoal filter and blue LCD display with Fahrenheit and Celsius toggle round out the interior.

Best For

  • Finishing a basement or outfitting a second home where a single zone red cellar needs a full height dedicated unit
  • Recessing into new cabinetry during a dining room or kitchen remodel, where front vented airflow eliminates clearance constraints
  • A collection in the 100 to 166 bottle range that has outgrown an undercounter cooler and needs proper long term storage
  • Storing a single varietal focus like a Bordeaux vertical or a Napa Cab library at one consistent temperature
Configuration
Placement requirement 60 to 85°F ambient temperature. Performance is affected outside this range.
Size 23¾"W x 27"D x 69¾"H. On the Stainless Steel door, the handle adds 2½" to depth.
Shelving 15 pull out shelves, 13 of which roll out fully.
Quiet mode Press and hold the light button for 3 to 5 seconds (with the display locked after 15 seconds of no touch) to reduce fan speed by 20 to 25 percent. The C/F indicator flashes while quiet mode is active.
Features
  • Single zone configuration. One consistent temperature runs the full height of the cabinet, suited to storing one style at a time rather than reds and whites simultaneously at different temperatures.
  • 166 bottle capacity is calibrated to standard 750ml Bordeaux profile bottles. Burgundy, Champagne or magnum formats occupy more shelf space and reduce the total count.
  • 15 pull out shelves, 13 of which roll out on wire guides, allow access to bottles at the back without unloading the front of the unit.
  • Front vented design with reversible hinges. No side or rear clearance is required, so the unit can be flush installed in a cabinet run or placed freestanding, with hinge swing set to match the space.
  • R600a compressor runs at lower pressure than older R134a systems, which typically means quieter operation.
  • Dedicated 15-amp circuit required. 115V / 60Hz. This is a hard electrical requirement to confirm before installation.
  • Warranty. 1 year on parts and labor, 5 years on the compressor.

FAQs

How many bottles can a Studio 1200 wine fridge actually hold?

The Studio 1200 holds up to 166 bottles when they are a mix of standard 750ml Bordeaux shaped bottles, since that is the narrowest common wine bottle profile and what the shelf spacing is calibrated around. If your collection leans toward wider shouldered Burgundy, Pinot Noir or Champagne bottles, expect the real usable number to land somewhat below 166, since those bottles take up more horizontal space per shelf. The 15 pull out shelves, 13 of which roll out fully, do accommodate a range of bottle widths, so it is not an all or nothing situation, just a gradual reduction as your collection skews wider.

I only have room for one wine fridge but I want to age wine long term, will this work?

Yes, as long as you are storing one temperature category at a time, since the Studio 1200 is a single zone unit that holds the entire cabinet at one consistent setpoint from top to bottom. That makes it well suited to a dedicated red aging column, a single varietal focus like a Bordeaux vertical, or any scenario where you are not trying to hold reds and whites at two different temperatures simultaneously. If your one available spot needs to do double duty for both long term red storage and near term white serving temps, that is the one case where a dual zone model would serve you better than this single zone unit.

Can a wine fridge like this go flush into cabinetry, or does it need clearance space?

It can go flush, because the Studio 1200 is front vented, meaning all the heat exhaust runs out through the front grille rather than the sides or back. That is what allows it to be recessed directly into a cabinet cutout with zero side or rear clearance, in addition to working as a straightforward freestanding unit if built in is not the plan. Reversible door hinges also mean the swing direction can be set to match whichever side makes sense for your layout.

What is the actual footprint of a 166-bottle wine cooler like this one?

The cabinet measures 23¾ inches wide by 27 inches deep by 69¾ inches tall, so it reads as a tall, narrow column rather than a wide unit, which is part of why it works well in dining room alcoves or basement corners where floor space is tight but vertical space is not. On the Stainless Steel door option specifically, the handle adds about 2½ inches to the depth, which is worth accounting for if you are planning a tight cabinet opening.

Does a single-zone wine fridge need special electrical work?

Yes, this unit requires its own dedicated 15-amp circuit running on 115V/60Hz, and it cannot share a breaker with other appliances. That is a hard requirement rather than a nice to have, so if this is going into a remodel or a new build out, it is worth having an electrician run that dedicated line before the unit is scheduled for delivery.
