Modern metal racking, built to grow
As an authorized Ultra Wine Racks dealer, Wine Cellar HQ offers Ultra's modern metal wine racking for homes and commercial spaces. Ultra started in 2015, when it saw a décor shift from conventional wood racking to contemporary metal wine racks.
Ultra's modular systems let homeowners, designers and builders create wine displays that grow with the collection. Wall rails connect to each other with included connectors, and any size or depth works with another, so a wall can start small and keep expanding.

Ultra Wine Racks FAQs
What's the difference between Ultra HZ and Straight wall rails?
HZ stands for horizontal. On HZ rails, bottles sit parallel to the wall with the labels facing out, so you can read every label without handling the bottle. Straight rails hold bottles in a cork-out configuration instead.
HZ rails come in single, double and triple deep and use sturdy pegs with recycled rubber O-rings to hold bottles securely in place. They can also be canted up to 60 degrees left or right for angled layouts.
Straight rails use brushed aluminum pegs and are a smart pick when wall space is tight, since cork-out storage fits more bottles into a smaller area. Both styles come in 1 to 4 ft lengths in a Matte Black finish, and Wine Cellar HQ carries both in our Ultra Wall Rails collection.
How many bottles does an Ultra wall rail hold?
It depends on length and depth. HZ rails hold 3 bottles per foot at single deep, 6 at double deep and 9 at triple deep, so a 4 ft HZ rail holds 12, 24 or 36 bottles. Straight rails hold 3, 6, 9 or 12 bottles across the 1 to 4 ft lengths.
Need a longer run? Ultra suggests pairing a 4 ft rail with a 1 ft rail for a 5 ft length, joined with the provided couplers and backer channels. Rails of any size or depth connect to each other, so a wine wall can keep growing with your collection.
Storing magnums? HZ rails can hold magnum bottles in a single deep configuration only.
Do Ultra Floor-to-Ceiling wine racks need a wall?
No. Ultra Floor-to-Ceiling displays let you show off your collection without a wall, which makes them a popular choice as a room divider in a home or restaurant.
Each bundle includes a steel frame and HZ rails covering 7 ft of vertical height per side, and the 1-sided bundles add a backer channel. Our 1-sided displays hold 21, 42 or 63 bottles, and our 2-sided displays hold 42, 84 or 126 bottles.
The post ships at 10 ft and is meant for ceilings between 8 and 10 ft, so you cut it to your ceiling height before installing. For other ceiling heights or bottle depths, contact our team at info@winecellarhq.com.
Can I install Ultra wine racks myself?
In most cases, yes. Ultra Wall Rails are designed to be easy to DIY and include mounting hardware, and Ultra's Floor-to-Ceiling systems are built around a simple installation process.
According to Ultra, wall-mounted racks can go on drywall, wood studs, concrete, brick and metal framing, as long as you use mounting hardware suited to the wall material. Wall-mounted racks typically need anchors or should be mounted into wall studs.
Larger floor-to-ceiling or commercial installations may benefit from a professional installer. Before you start, check the spec sheets, install guides and install videos in the Plan & Install section above.
Do Ultra wine racks work in glass wine rooms?
Yes. Ultra racks are often installed inside glass-enclosed wine rooms, where the collection becomes the focal point of the space.
Ultra's own projects include an illuminated, glass-encased Floor-to-Ceiling display and a glass wine cellar built with the Ultra Floor-to-Ceiling system. If you're planning a glass room, our free design consultation can help you choose the right Ultra system for your space.
