Strange crackling noises during cooling cycle

This is my third WhisperKool product in the last twenty years and I have had good experiences with them to date. I am somewhat concerned that this unit will not have the longevity of previous units due to a strange crackling noise that is intermittent and seems to recur around the end of the cooling cycle. The unit is cycling properly and maintains the proper temperature in the room but I am concerned that this sound is indicative of what may lead to a safety problem. I would appreciate someone contacting me to discuss.

We are sorry to hear that you are having concerns about the unit you purchased. We contacted our tech support team with your concern and they advised us that the crackling noise is produced by the new advanced condensate evaporator that removes up to 3oz of condensate per hour.

Runs Too Long

I replaced my 13 year old Whisper Kool with the new equivalent replacement. My wine room is 304 cubic ft. The unit is rated to cool twice the size my wine room is. It cools and is much quieter, but it runs for 4 hours per cycle. I have checked for leaks in my room and found nothing. It doesn't seem to push as much air as the old one. I'm not 100% happy with it.

This is my second WhisperKool unit for our house wine cellar. The first unit lasted 6-7 years. This one is quieter. It is the exact same size as my first and fit through the existing wall hole. The drain tube is slightly larger so I did have to drill the hole in the wall larger. I would recommend this unit for a moderate sized cellar.

This cooling unit can be classed as Self-Contained. It's a Through the Wall unit, so it sends exhaust fumes into an adjacent room.
